Anomaly Detected Intruders Guide
Named hostile roster, report priority, and map sightlines before Evident becomes Unreportable.
What Intruders are
Intruders are the hostile, unrecognizable humanoid or creature threats in Anomaly Detected. Inspired by Mandela Catalogue / observation-duty horror vibes, they are not “just another Moved Object.” They are the reason the Report Tablet has a dedicated Intruder category—and the reason squads wipe when they prioritize vase angles over living wrongness.
This page is the entity dossier with the named community roster. For step-by-step emergency behavior, use How to Survive Intruders. For object classes you should postpone, use anomaly types. No second video embed here—keep recognition practice on live shifts and map walkthroughs.
Named roster (community call names)
Use short names in voice chat. Official UI still wants the Intruder tablet category unless a threat is explicitly unreportable.
| Call name | Also known as | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Idle | Naked | Lingering wrong presence; easy to rationalize as a prop until it is not |
| Geoffrey | Surprise | Door / entry jump pressure—peek frames before committing indoors |
| Tall Figure | H.I.M | Hardmode anxiety mascot; community cue for earlier pressure around ~1 AM; watch doors after power restore |
| Unreportable | Hooded | Failure-state / late-threat nightmare—prevention beats heroics once reporting windows close |
| Archangel Gabriel | Church unreportable | Church-specific unreportable threat—do not invent tablet miracles; play spacing, peeks, and prevention |
| Doppelganger | Church double | Teammate-looking wrongness—verify with callouts before trusting a silent “friend” |
Nicknames help veterans; beginners can still say “Intruder — door” and be correct. Hardmode context: Hardmode. Blackout door watch: Power Outage.
Why Intruders are S-tier priority
On the Tier List, Intruders sit at the top because threat escalation is not cosmetic. The meter moves None → Mild → Vague → Evident. When Intruder-driven Evident pressure lasts too long, the game can push into Unreportable Intruder territory and end the shift regardless of how many Missing Objects you correctly logged.
Object anomalies create atmosphere. Intruders create deadlines.
Recognition cues
Train these without relying on ESP (Scripts ban warning):
- Silhouettes that break furniture grammar
- Bodies or faces that refuse to parse as normal NPCs
- Motion in peripheral hall vision
- Door-adjacent Surprise pressure (Geoffrey)
- Height / hallway wrongness that reads as Tall Figure
- “Someone is here” pressure when the room should be empty
- Teammate sudden silence, camera yank, or a double that will not answer callouts (Doppelganger paranoia on Church)
False positives are okay. False negatives are how Unreportable / Hooded endings happen. Report Intruder when unsure, stabilize, then continue.
Report identity
Open the tablet (R on PC / mobile side button), choose Intruder, submit, confirm. Do not finish a Distorted Object submission “real quick.” UI exit mistakes on Office (Jump to leave reporter) are covered in Controls, How to Play, and Office walkthrough.
When a threat is understood as unreportable (Hooded late-state, Church Archangel Gabriel), the skill expression is prevention and positioning earlier in the shift—not arguing with a locked tablet.
Co-op callout language
Keep calls short and locational:
- “Intruder — stairs.”
- “Geoffrey — front door.”
- “Tall Figure — hall.”
- “Possible Doppelganger — verify blue hoodie.”
- “Intruder — chapel right.”
Avoid novels. After success: “Intruder clear — meter?” Meter caller answers. Then props resume.
Map sightline notes
House
Best Intruder classroom. Junction peeks are clean. Use House walkthrough loops that always re-check halls between bedroom deep-dives. After basement power box restores, watch the door for Tall Figure before celebrating.
Office
Darkness hides hostiles. Flashlight (F) sweeps help; sprint (Left Shift) should not erase peripheral checks. Plant feet when confirming a silhouette.
Church
Connectors between wings are Intruder highways. Density means hostiles plus object stacks—never send the full lobby into storage while the nave is unsupervised (Church walkthrough). Respect Gabriel as an unreportable Church threat in planning talk, and verify Doppelganger suspects with voice checks.
Solo vs squad
Squads should pre-assign Intruder lead and cover. Solo players must shorten routes and treat Vague like Evident. Solo is excellent practice for tablet speed after Getting Started.
Hardmode and competitive Intruder tax
v.101 hardmode (~2025-09-27 package), leaderboards, and win counts (Updates) amplify Intruder mistakes. Tall Figure pressure earlier (~1 AM community cue) means hallway literacy must already be automatic. If your Church win rate collapses only in hardmode, review Intruder latency before studying more imagery lore.
Intruders vs Other / Distorted debates
Sometimes a figure might be a Distorted mannequin-like object. Decision rule:
- If it could be hostile → Intruder.
- Stabilize threat.
- If later evidence shows object class, adjust on the next encounter with better info.
Dying on taxonomy pride is not skill expression.
Training drills
- Interrupt drill: mid object count, forced Intruder call—switch categories instantly (How to Report Anomalies).
- Junction drill: House halls only for five minutes—no room tourism.
- Door drill: practice Geoffrey/Tall Figure peeks after simulated “power up” calls.
- Dark silhouette drill: Office flashlight cadence while naming “clear / not clear.”
- Wing threshold drill: Church door peeks before every props dive.
- Debrief drill: after each wipe, name the delayed Intruder (Idle, Geoffrey, Tall Figure, etc.) in one sentence—no blame spiral.
What Intruders are not
- Not solvable with promo codes (none verified active as of Sep 2026)
- Not a reason to scream without opening the tablet
- Not lower priority than leaderboard cosmetics
- Not identical to Strange Imagery faces on paintings—paintings are imagery; walking wrongness is Intruder until proven otherwise
- Not something ESP scripts should teach you first (Scripts)

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are the named Intruders players call out?
Common call names include Idle/Naked, Geoffrey/Surprise (door), Tall Figure/H.I.M, and Unreportable/Hooded. Church adds Archangel Gabriel (unreportable) and Doppelganger.
What should I do the moment I see an Intruder?
Call the room, open the Report Tablet, select Intruder, and submit immediately. Object reports wait until threat stabilizes.
Can Intruders appear on every map?
Yes. Practice recognition on House, respect darkness on Office, and guard wing connectors on Church—especially Gabriel and Doppelganger talk on Church.
Should I report Intruder if I am only mostly sure?
Yes when threat is rising. A cautious Intruder report beats a polite debate that ends in an Unreportable wipe.
Where is the full survival protocol?
See How to Survive Intruders in the Guides section for emergency steps, roles, and recovery plans after Vague or Evident spikes.
