How to Play Anomaly Detected

Win condition

You win a shift of Anomaly Detected by surviving until 6 AM while correctly handling anomalies. You do not need a perfect museum inventory of every prop—you need enough accurate reports, especially on Intruders, to stop the threat meter from ending the run.

Fail states usually look like: ignored Intruder → Evident pressure → Unreportable Intruder wipe; or too many unresolved anomalies while the lobby panics. Play the objective, not the jumpscare montage.

If you are brand new, skim Getting Started first, then return here for the systems sheet.

Core gameplay loop

  1. Baseline each room at the start of your route.
  2. Compare on every revisit—did something move, vanish, appear, distort, glow wrong, or corrupt imagery?
  3. Report with the Report Tablet using the best-fit class.
  4. Prioritize Intruders over tidy object cleanup whenever hostiles are present.
  5. Re-enter the loop until morning.

Classes: Moved Object, Extra Object, Missing Object, Strange Imagery, Strange Light, Distorted Object, Other, Intruder. Deep roster: anomaly types, Intruders. Tablet craft: How to Report Anomalies.

Controls (by map context)

House

  • Report Tablet (PC): R
  • Report Tablet (Mobile): button on the side of the screen

House is where you should learn tablet fluency before any other mechanical complexity. Walkthrough: House.

Office

  • Flashlight: F or gamepad B
  • Sprint: Left Shift or gamepad R1
  • Exit reporter: Jump

Office punishes players who hold sprint through dark corners and miss Missing Objects or Strange Lights. Walkthrough: Office.

Church

Same reporting fantasy with denser rooms. Expect longer routes and stricter role discipline. Walkthrough: Church. Added in the v.101 era alongside leaderboards, win counts, and hardmode (Updates).

Always re-read the live Roblox description after patches—keybind text there is authoritative if a silent remap ships.

Threat meter rules of thumb

LevelHow you should play
NoneTeach, joke lightly, deepen baselines
MildStart hunting; no AFK chatting
VagueIntruder sweeps every route; shorten debates
EvidentEmergency Intruder protocol; object busywork waits

Map progression (how to play the catalogue)

Follow the Tier List teaching order:

  1. House (S learn) — readable props, clean tablet practice.
  2. Office (A) — lighting + mobility tax.
  3. Church (S challenge) — density exam for veterans.

Skipping ahead because “Church is new and cool” is how win counts stall. Earn Church with House reps.

Co-op versus solo mindset

Online co-op is the intended social mode: split wings, cross-check dubious imagery, and dedicate one brain to Intruders. Solo is excellent for memory training but harsher when two anomalies spawn far apart. Either way, the win condition does not change—morning clock and threat management.

Suggested roles:

  • Intruder lead
  • Props scanner
  • Imagery / light checker
  • Meter caller

Scoring systems after v.101

Leaderboards and win counts reward consistent clears and hardmode bravado. They do not rewrite the how-to-play fundamentals. If hardmode feels unfair, drop to standard, fix report speed, then requeue. Chasing fake codes or risky scripts will not teach meter discipline.

Mid-shift decision tree

  • See a hostile silhouette → report Intruder immediately.
  • See a prop change while threat is None/Mild → classify carefully (Moved / Missing / Extra / Distorted / etc.).
  • Unsure of class but sure something is wrong → Other beats infinite debate while Vague is climbing—then say what you saw.
  • Teammate is wrong about a painting → correct after the current report resolves, not during an Intruder chase.
  • Lobby wants ESP → remind them of ban risk; keep playing clean.

Practice drills (10 minutes each)

  1. Tablet only: spawn House, open/close tablet twenty times without looking at the keyboard.
  2. Class naming: have a friend point at random props; you say which class a change would be.
  3. Intruder interrupt: while counting paintings, a friend yells “Intruder”; you must verbalize tablet steps instantly.
  4. Office light discipline: flashlight on only when stopped; sprint in short bursts.
  5. Church wing timer: clear one wing thoroughly instead of whole-map jogging.

Mindset

How to play Anomaly Detected is really how to pay attention with friends. The maps change, hardmode tightens forgiveness, and Church adds density—but the winning habits stay identical: baseline, compare, report, Intruder first, live to 6 AM. Master that sentence and every walkthrough on this wiki becomes optional detail instead of emergency homework.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do you win Anomaly Detected?

Survive until 6 AM while reporting anomalies—especially Intruders—so threat does not end the shift in an Unreportable wipe.

What are the main controls?

House tablet is R on PC or the mobile side button. Office adds flashlight on F and sprint on Left Shift; jump exits the reporter.

Which map should I play as I learn?

Progress House → Office → Church. House teaches cleanly; Office adds darkness; Church is the dense challenge map.

Does hardmode change the win condition?

You still aim for 6 AM, but mistakes are less forgiving. Keep the same Intruder-first rules and tighten execution speed.

Can I play solo?

Yes, though online co-op makes Intruder coverage and cross-checks easier. Solo is great for memory drills on House.
