Getting Started with Anomaly Detected
Survive your first shifts: memorize rooms, report anomalies, prioritize Intruders.
Welcome to the watch
Anomaly Detected is a free Roblox co-op horror experience (listed as Anomaly Watch) from the Bachibo group / developer punitto. You explore a location that should stay normal, notice when it does not, report the change on your Report Tablet, and endure until 6 AM. Roughly 35 million visits prove the loop is sticky—but new lobbies still wipe when nobody explains Intruder priority.
This Getting Started guide is your first-night briefing. Watch the embedded tutorial mid-page for Intruder and anomaly visuals, then run House before you touch Office darkness or Church density.
First-night checklist
- Join with at least one friend if you can—online co-op callouts beat solo guessing.
- Start on House. It is the S-tier learning map on our Tier List.
- Walk every room once with zero reports: build a mental baseline of furniture, art, and lights.
- Bind your fingers to the tablet key early: R on PC in House, or the mobile side button.
- Agree on callout format:
Room + Class(example: “Bedroom Missing”). - Assign an Intruder lead before the shift gets weird.
- Survive to 6 AM once without chasing codes (there are no verified active codes as of Sep 2026) or scripts.
The loop in plain language
Memorize → spot change → open tablet → pick the right class → confirm → resume scanning → keep Intruders from stacking threat → hear the morning. That is the entire game. Combat shooters train aim; Anomaly Detected trains attention.
Anomaly classes you will report:
- Moved Object
- Extra Object
- Missing Object
- Strange Imagery
- Strange Light
- Distorted Object
- Other
- Intruder
Definitions live on anomaly types. Workflow live on How to Report Anomalies.
Threat meter (learn this before cosmetics)
Threat climbs None → Mild → Vague → Evident. When an Intruder-related Evident state lasts too long, you risk an Unreportable Intruder wipe—the run ends because you waited. Beginners lose more to politeness (“you report it”) than to hard anomalies. If you see a hostile, you report it. Details: How to Survive Intruders and Intruders.
Controls you need on night one
| Situation | Control |
|---|---|
| House PC — Report Tablet | R |
| Mobile — Report Tablet | Side button |
| Office — Flashlight | F (later) |
| Office — Sprint | Left Shift (later) |
Do not jump to Office until House tablet speed feels boring. Full control narrative: How to Play.
Co-op etiquette that prevents rage quits
- Call what you know, not what you kind of feel—false reports waste time, but silence during Evident is worse.
- Do not stack three people in one closet while the hallway Intruder idles.
- After any Intruder report, re-check the last room for object anomalies you skipped.
- Keep jokes for None threat; when someone says Vague, focus.
- New players should narrate baselines out loud once (“lamp on left, painting centered”) so mentors can correct.
What “good” looks like after one hour
You can:
- Open the tablet without hunting the keybind.
- Name at least five anomaly classes without peeking.
- Explain why Intruders outrank a tilted chair.
- Finish a House route without getting lost.
- Tell a friend to ignore fake code lists and ESP installers for now.
If any bullet fails, replay House with the House walkthrough before Office.
Common beginner mistakes
- Treating it like a jumpscare runner — sprinting past props guarantees Missing Object fails on later maps.
- Debating categories during Intruder events — pick Intruder first; argue semantics at 6:01.
- Assuming codes will bail you out — they will not; see Codes Hub.
- Installing ESP on night one — you skip the skill the game teaches and risk bans (Scripts).
- Skipping Church prep — Church is densest; earn it via House → Office (Church walkthrough).
Suggested second and third sessions
Session 2: Re-read reporting guide; drill Missing vs Extra vs Moved only.
Session 3: Add Strange Imagery / Light / Distorted; attempt Office with flashlight discipline (Office walkthrough).
Track personal win counts if you like the v.101 meta (Updates), but do not let leaderboard anxiety skip fundamentals.
Where to go next
- Guides Hub for the full tutorial list
- Players Hub for the entity roster
- Wiki Overview for the site map
- Tier List for map order and priority ranks
You do not need perfect memory on night one. You need a tablet reflex, an Intruder rule, and a squad that calls rooms clearly. Everything else—Church density, hardmode, leaderboard grinding—is just the same Getting Started habits under worse lighting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What map should I play first in Anomaly Detected?
House. It is the best learning environment for baselines and tablet practice before Office darkness and Church density.
How do I open the Report Tablet?
On PC in House, press R. On mobile, use the side on-screen button. Office adds flashlight F and sprint Left Shift.
What happens if we ignore Intruders?
Threat can climb to Evident and become Unreportable, wiping the team. Intruders are always top reporting priority.
Are there beginner codes?
No verified active promo codes exist as of September 2026. Focus on skill guides instead of third-party code lists.
Is Anomaly Detected free and co-op?
Yes. It is free on Roblox with online co-op. Join friends when possible so callouts share the observation load.
