How this tier list is ranked

This Anomaly Detected tier list ranks two things players actually argue about: which map to learn first and which anomaly classes to prioritize under pressure. Criteria are wipe risk, visual ambiguity, lighting/readability, and how badly a miss escalates the threat meter (None → Mild → Vague → Evident). Evident left unresolved too long can produce an Unreportable Intruder wipe—so priority beats vanity clears.

Co-op online play and free access mean squads of mixed skill will queue House, Office, and Church together. Use these ranks as a teaching order, not a gatekeeping flex. Pair them with Getting Started, the Players Hub, and map walkthroughs under Guides.

Map tier list

S — House (best learning map)

House is S-tier for onboarding. Layouts are readable, the Report Tablet on PC is a clean R press (mobile uses the side button), and anomaly density teaches pattern memory without Office-level darkness. New players should clear multiple House nights before chasing leaderboard bragging on harder maps.

Why S for learning (not “easiest forever”):

  • Props have strong silhouettes—moved chairs, missing frames, and extra objects read clearly once you memorize baselines.
  • Intruder spawns still matter, so you practice real priority without constant flashlight juggling.
  • Ideal for teaching tablet categories: Moved, Extra, Missing, Strange Imagery, Strange Light, Distorted, Other, Intruder.

Deep dive: House walkthrough.

A — Office (harder darkness and mobility)

Office climbs to A-tier difficulty for most squads because lighting and traversal punish slow scanners. Flashlight is F (or gamepad B); sprint is Left Shift (or R1). Exiting the reporter with jump is easy to fumble when panic sets in.

Office raises miss risk on Strange Light and Distorted Object classes, and sprint-hungry players skip corners where Missing Objects hide. Treat Office as the mid-course exam after House fluency. Guide: Office walkthrough.

S-challenge — Church (densest anomaly load)

Church (highlighted in the v.101 update) is the densest map for anomaly volume and room variety—chapel, halls, dorms, sacristy, basement lines, kitchens, and more. It is S-tier as a challenge map: great for veterans and win-count grinding, brutal for first-timers who never learned House baselines.

Church rewards disciplined route order and loud callouts. If your squad still debates tablet categories, go back to House. Guide: Church walkthrough. Patch context: Updates Hub.

Anomaly priority tier list

S — Intruder

Intruders are always top priority. They are hostile humanoids / unrecognizable creatures that must be reported quickly. Ignoring them while you tidy a tilted vase is how Mild threat becomes Vague, then Evident, then an Unreportable disaster.

Squad rule: the first player who confirms an Intruder calls it, opens the tablet, and reports Intruder before any object class. Details: Intruders and How to Survive Intruders.

S — Unreportable Intruder threat (meta hazard)

Not a “type” you pick for fun—this is the failure state when Evident pressure lasts too long. Rank it S in your mental model so the whole lobby respects timers and callouts. Prevention beats clutch. Keep scanning after every successful Intruder report; threat can climb again.

A — Missing Object & Extra Object

High miss-risk because absence and surplus fight your memory. Players tunnel on what is present and skip empty shelves or duplicate props. Call “missing” and “extra” explicitly so teammates re-check the same room with fresh eyes. See anomaly types.

A — Distorted Object & Strange Imagery

Distortions and imagery shifts are easy to gaslight yourself over—“was that painting always wrong?” Snapshot mental baselines on first walkthrough. Church imagery-heavy rooms spike this tier’s importance.

B — Moved Object

Moved Object is common and usually readable once you know furniture anchors. Still dangerous when combined with darkness (Office) or when players over-report every slight angle. Confirm before burning tablet time during Intruder events.

B — Strange Light

Hue, flicker, or impossible lighting reads differently per map. Office elevates this toward A for many players; House keeps it more manageable. Never confuse a teammate’s flashlight beam with a Strange Light anomaly.

C — Other

Other is the catch-all when something is wrong but does not fit clean buckets. Useful, but overused by panicked players. Prefer a specific class when sure; use Other when delaying would risk Evident escalation—then communicate what you saw for the next loop.

Co-op roles that match this tier list

  1. Intruder lead — eyes up for entities; tablet ready on R / side button.
  2. Object scanner — owns Moved / Missing / Extra / Distorted checks along a route.
  3. Light & imagery checker — verifies lamps, screens, paintings, impossible glows.
  4. Caller — keeps threat callouts honest (None / Mild / Vague / Evident).

Rotate roles after wipes so everyone learns S-tier Intruder habits.

How to use ranks without tilting

  • Do not shame teammates for starting on House—S-learn exists for a reason.
  • On Church, shrink routes; clear wings thoroughly instead of sprinting the whole floor.
  • After any Intruder report, re-check the last room for object anomalies you skipped.
  • Ignore codes FOMO and scripts ESP fantasies until your priority order is automatic.
  • Recheck this list after major patches noted on Updates (hardmode and new maps can reshuffle feel).

Master Intruder-first discipline, graduate maps in House → Office → Church order, and your wipe rate drops faster than any fake tier list that ranks cosmetics.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which Anomaly Detected map should beginners play first?

Start on House. It is the best learning map for baselines and tablet practice before Office darkness and Church density.

What anomaly type should I report first?

Intruders always come first. Object anomalies matter, but an unresolved Intruder can push threat to Evident and become Unreportable.

Is Church harder than Office?

For most squads yes—Church is denser and better as a veteran challenge map. Office is harder than House mainly because of darkness and movement controls.

What does Unreportable mean on the tier list?

If Evident threat from an Intruder lasts too long, it can become Unreportable and wipe the team. Treat prevention as S-tier priority.

Do scripts change the tier list?

ESP can mask skill gaps but risks bans and teaches poor habits. This list assumes legitimate play; see the Scripts Hub for warnings.
