Anomaly Detected Power Outage Survival
Find the House basement power box, restore light, then watch the door for Tall Figure.
Blackouts are a second game inside the shift
A power outage in Anomaly Detected is not flavor text. When the House goes dark, your prop baselines vanish, flashlight habits (if any) get stressed, and Intruders gain ambiguity. The fix is mechanical: find the power box in the House basement, restore power, and—critically—watch the door afterward for Tall Figure / H.I.M.
This guide covers the blackout loop, co-op roles, Unreportable risk while everyone tunnels on the fuse box, and how hardmode makes the same event less forgiving. Watch the embedded video for visual routing, then impose the checklist below. Map context: House walkthrough. Intruder emergency habits: How to Survive Intruders.
The blackout loop (House)
- Call it: “Power out — basement box.” Do not whisper; the whole lobby needs the same objective.
- Assign roles immediately (see table below)—do not send four people downstairs.
- Basement runner moves to the House basement power box with a clear path callout.
- Door / hall watchers hold sightlines upstairs while power is down.
- Restore power at the box.
- Post-restore door watch: the moment lights return, treat the entry/door angles as a Tall Figure check—do not celebrate and scatter into bedrooms yet.
- Resume normal route only after Intruder angles look clear and threat is acknowledged out loud.
Skipping step 6 is a classic wipe story: lights on, dopamine up, Tall Figure already framed in the doorway.
Where the power box is
On House, the restorative interaction is the basement power box. Learn the path on a calm standard clear before you need it at Vague:
- From your usual living/entry loop, commit to the basement access you use every night—same stairs, same callout name.
- Narrate landmarks so mobile teammates can follow without a map UI (“past laundry, left to box”).
- On first basement entry of the night, note baseline props down there too—blackouts are not an excuse to ignore Missing Objects forever, but Intruders still outrank shelf tidy-ups.
If your squad plays Office or Church more often, still drill House basement pathing; blackout literacy is a House skill that hardmode grinders need (Hardmode).
Co-op roles during outage
| Role | Duty |
|---|---|
| Basement runner | Reaches power box; calls “at box,” restores, calls “power up” |
| Door watcher | Eyes on main door / entry after restore for Tall Figure |
| Hall flex | Covers connectors so Idle/Naked or Surprise pressure does not stack unseen |
| Meter caller | Tracks Mild→Evident; vetoes prop tourism until lights and doors are stable |
Duos: one runner, one door/hall watcher—never both downstairs. Solo: accept slower restores; peek door angles before and after the box interaction; treat Vague like Evident.
Unreportable risk during blackouts
Darkness plus objective fixation is how Unreportable / Hooded endings happen. Threat still climbs None → Mild → Vague → Evident while you fumble stairs. Prevention:
- Pre-assign the basement runner at shift start if your lobby expects outages.
- Keep tablet binds warm (R / mobile side button) from Controls.
- If an Intruder is seen mid-run to the box, report Intruder first—a powered House with an Unreportable wipe is still a loss.
- Do not open codes menus or script UIs during blackout chaos (Scripts).
- After restore, the door watch is part of Intruder protocol, not optional flavor.
Named roster context for what might greet you at the door: Intruders.
Tall Figure after restore — make it a habit
Community hardmode talk often pairs earlier Tall Figure pressure (~1 AM) with doorway anxiety. Even on standard, treat post-restore as a scripted-feeling danger window:
- Runner calls “power up.”
- Door watcher answers “door clear” or “Intruder door!”
- If Intruder: tablet → Intruder category → confirm → then re-sweep.
- Only then release props lead back to Missing/Moved checks.
This call-and-response takes seconds and saves nights.
Hardmode blackouts
Hardmode’s reduced forgiveness means slower basement pathing and delayed door watches are punished harder. If you are grinding House hardmode before Church (Hardmode), add a weekly drill: simulate “lights out” mentally at a random clock time, run the role table, and practice the post-restore door line even when no outage occurs—muscle memory transfers.
Common power-outage mistakes
- Entire lobby flooding the basement (nobody watches the door).
- Restoring power and instantly splitting to bedrooms.
- Arguing about a tilted chair in the dark while Evident climbs.
- Basement runner AFK in tablet UI downstairs without a hall flex.
- Treating blackouts as Office-only flashlight problems—House box pathing is the real fix.
- Ignoring Geoffrey/Surprise door habits because “we are busy with fuses.”
Mid-outage recovery if the lobby fragments
- Rally call: “Meet entry, recount roles.”
- Re-pick basement runner if the original disconnected.
- Intruder sweep halls for 30 seconds before re-attempting the box if Vague already hit.
- Ban jokes until power is up and door is clear.
- Debrief in one sentence after Mild/None: “Outage — box done — Tall Figure door was clear/not clear.”
Practice goals
- Every House regular can reach the basement box without asking “where is it?”
- Duo can restore power with one person still on door duty.
- Squad verbalizes the post-restore Tall Figure check without being reminded by this wiki.
- Hardmode House clears no longer wipe solely because everyone watched the fuse instead of the door.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where is the power box during a House blackout?
In the House basement. Assign one basement runner while someone else watches doors and halls upstairs.
What should we do right after restoring power?
Watch the door and entry angles for Tall Figure / H.I.M before scattering into bedrooms or resuming deep prop checks.
Can a power outage cause an Unreportable wipe?
Yes indirectly—if Intruders are ignored while everyone fixates on the box, Evident pressure can become Unreportable. Report hostiles first.
Should the whole team go to the basement?
No. Send a runner; keep door and hall coverage upstairs. Duos should never both go down.
Does hardmode change the blackout steps?
The loop is the same, but less forgiveness means slower pathing and skipped door watches are punished harder. Drill House hardmode after standard box literacy.
